Dakota Ditcheva is medically cleared after surgery on both hands, and she wants Jena Bishop and the PFL flyweight title next. Sherdog reported the update, with Ditcheva saying she’s back in the gym and has one item left on her calendar.
“I’m good, I’m all clear. I’m back at training now, so yeah, I’m ready to go. I’m just waiting for a date for the belt. I want my belt back,” she told Sherdog.
The recovery details are worth a closer look. Ditcheva said she has been grappling for a few weeks while easing back into striking, since she had no fight booked and saw no reason to rush the hands. She put the timeline at roughly nine weeks from surgery, which she called really quick. The hands themselves have been a topic of conversation online. A photo of her post-surgery hand made the rounds on X this week, and Ditcheva told Ariel Helwani she’s at peace with the scars from multiple operations.

“It is what it is, and I feel like it’s just part of my story,” she said. “I can’t be a superstar without an interesting story, right?”
The Bishop problem
The more revealing part of the Helwani interview was about the belt. Ditcheva admitted she didn’t care much about the title when nobody held it. Watching Bishop wear it changed that.
“But now seeing Jena with it, I’m quite a bit jealous and I’m motivated,” she said.

She also described their recent faceoff as strange. According to Ditcheva, Bishop and her teammates talked plenty in the comments under PFL posts before their first fight, and then in person Bishop told her she liked her top and looked really uncomfortable doing it. Ditcheva’s summary: “It’s like, oh, this is different. This is real different.”
The rematch has picked up weight since the first meeting. Yahoo Sports’ Uncrowned panel, which ranks Ditcheva No. 6 on its women’s pound-for-pound list this month, pointed out that almost nobody paid attention the first time these two fought. Back then Ditcheva was taking criticism for her 2024 opposition right up until she stopped Taila Santos. Bishop has since taken the belt from Liz Carmouche, and the panel wrote that a second fight now feels inevitable and, in its word, big.
No date or event has been announced.

Quick take
I like the order of operations here. A fighter coming off surgery on both hands who spends the first stretch of camp drilling grappling and leaves the bag alone is making a smart call, the kind that keeps a nine-week recovery from turning into a second trip to the surgeon. The faceoff story is the part I’d circle, though. Comment-section bravado that turns into compliments about clothing at the faceoff tells you something about the room Bishop walked into, and Ditcheva clearly noticed. Flyweight has been short on fights that actually move the needle in the PFL, and this one does. Book it for early 2027 and let Ditcheva test those hands on someone who’s already beaten Carmouche.
