Both Men Stopped Renan Ferreira. Now Nemkov and Bilostenniy Fight for PFL Gold

Vadim Nemkov makes his first heavyweight title defense against Sergei Bilostenniy on Nov. 14 at Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.

Vadim Nemkov finally has a challenger. PFL announced on X that its heavyweight champion will defend the belt against Sergei Bilostenniy in the main event of PFL Dubai on Saturday, Nov. 14, at Coca-Cola Arena. The main card starts at 1 p.m. ET on the ESPN App in the U.S.

It’s an all-Russian heavyweight title fight with a shared reference point. Both men have beaten Renan Ferreira, and both did it by stoppage.

Nemkov (20-2, 1 NC) took the title from Ferreira in December 2025, finishing the Brazilian in four minutes. This will be his first defense. The Fedor Emelianenko protege, a former Bellator champion, hasn’t lost in a decade, a 15-fight unbeaten run spread across RIZIN, Bellator and PFL, according to MMA Fighting. In a PFL release, he made his finishing philosophy pretty plain.

“I always try to finish fights with a submission or a choke. Like Fedor says, fights should end early,” Nemkov said. “But fighting is unpredictable, things don’t always go according to plan, so you have to be ready to adjust during the fight.”

Bilostenniy (15-4) earned the shot in May when he knocked out Ferreira in the second round. That pushed him to 4-1 inside the PFL cage, with wins over Ferreira, Karl Williams, Tyrell Fortune and Kasim Aras, three of them by knockout. The 31-year-old has finished two-thirds of his career wins with strikes, and he’s currently training in Moscow.

“I want to treat the fans to a great, exciting bout between two big Russian guys! My mindset is excellent, I’m ready for battle. See you all soon,” Bilostenniy said.

Nemkov has also been making noise away from the cage this week. In an interview with Ushatayka, he said pay was the main reason he didn’t sign with the UFC and claimed he could earn roughly twice as much in the PFL. “The UFC is a huge money-making machine, so to speak,” Nemkov said. “There are massive sums involved, and the fighters get paid mere pennies.” He added that one PFL fight would equal three fights over there for him.

The rest of the Dubai card runs 15 fights deep. Unbeaten Belgian welterweight Patrick Habirora (9-0), who stopped ex-UFC champion Benson Henderson in 20 seconds in his last outing, faces PFL MENA welterweight champion Omar El Dafrawy (16-6) in the co-main. The main card also has undefeated heavyweight Pouya Rahmani (6-0) against Oleg Popov (23-2), former Bellator bantamweight champ Sergio Pettis (25-8) against Joji Goto (21-9-1), and Abubakar Nurmagomedov (17-4-1) against David Martinez (17-6). Denis Goltsov (37-9) meets Maxwell Djantou Nana (9-2) on the prelims.

My take: Ferreira is the best comparison point here. Nemkov needed four minutes with him, and Bilostenniy needed a round and change, so neither guy is short on evidence. The fight probably turns on how long Bilostenniy can keep it standing. Nemkov is hunting chokes, and a heavyweight who has to sprawl for 25 minutes against a Fedor-trained grappler tends to stop throwing big shots by Round 3. Bilostenniy’s path is early and loud, so watch the first five minutes on Nov. 14.
