Arman Tsarukyan Got His Title Shot Confirmation and Just Named His Return Window

Fresh off stomping Dillon Danis 10-0 at RAF 14, the No. 2 lightweight is targeting an Octagon return early in 2027.

Arman Tsarukyan finally has a title shot confirmation, and now he has a calendar to go with it. “Arman Tsarukyan reveals timeframe for lightweight title shot after being given confirmation,” Bloody Elbow wrote on X Saturday night. An MMA Sucka report the same day put the target window early in 2027.

The reports don’t spell out who delivered the confirmation or name a date or opponent. The plan is straightforward, though. Tsarukyan finishes up his wrestling commitments, then walks back into the Octagon with gold on the line.

For anyone who’s been living under a rock, Tsarukyan is the No. 2 lightweight in the Knockout Daily rankings. He’s 24-3 and trains out of American Top Team, and he last fought in MMA on September 19, 2026. The UFC also had him at No. 13 pound-for-pound as of September 22. He turned 30 on October 11, so the Armenian-Russian contender is entering his prime with a confirmed shot. That’s a lot better than sitting around waiting for a phone call that never comes. His UFC run started in 2019 with a unanimous decision loss to Islam Makhachev that earned Fight of the Night, and he has been knocking on this door ever since.

The “wrestling stint” was hardly a quiet sabbatical. At the RAF 14 press conference on Thursday, things went sideways in a hurry. A brawl broke out involving Tsarukyan, Dillon Danis, Khamzat Chimaev and members of their teams. Ariel Helwani posted on X that “One security guard was bleeding. Total chaos.” I love press conference mayhem as much as anyone, but a bleeding security guard is where the fun stops.

Then came the actual match. Happy Punch reported Danis “went through hell cutting weight” for it, and the payoff for all that suffering was a 10-0 beatdown. According to Championship Rounds, Tsarukyan stepped on Danis after the win. Petty? Absolutely. Earned? Danis spent the week talking, so I’m not shedding any tears.

All of this sets up a straightforward winter for Tsarukyan. He has sharpened his wrestling against a guy who desperately needed humbling, and his name has been all over every feed for a week. Now he gets a promised title fight on the other side of it. Early 2027 can’t come fast enough. The lightweight belt has spent years dodging this man, and the excuses just ran out.
