Dominick Reyes waited less than 10 hours after his first-round knockout of Azamat Murzakhanov at UFC 333 before he went looking for a second fight, this time with the man in the commentary headset. In a post circulated by Championship Rounds early Sunday, Reyes unloaded on Daniel Cormier: “Real talk, who actually likes hearing low iq hater ass DC?”
He kept going. Reyes wrote that he was “Sick of being the nice guy while these clowns flat out disrespect and marginalize what I’ve done in this sport,” then took aim at the so-called experts before dragging Jon Jones into the middle of it. “And no Jon jones didn’t whoop all of us, he whooped you! Bad! Multiple times. Kid.”
That last word looks like a deliberate callback, because Cormier’s reply opened on it. “Yo dom chill. I don’t call you kid negatively,” Cormier wrote. He said he has only ever told Reyes the truth, praising him when he earns it and criticizing him when he doesn’t. “When you do some amazing shit like you did today I praise you. If you do something like the last fight with Johnny, I speak The Truth about that too.”

Then Cormier shifted tone. He suggested the outburst sounded like something Reyes had been holding onto for a long time, and he left the door open: “You can always talk to me. I’m not very hard to find.”
The knockout that started it
The irony is that Cormier was calling the Murzakhanov win the kind of performance he praises, and it deserved every bit of it. THE MMA GURU described Reyes chewing up Murzakhanov’s leg early, which set up the finish. With his opponent’s base compromised, Reyes went upstairs with a high kick, then chased it with a left hand straight down the middle to close the show inside Round 1. Dovy called it a “BEAUTIFUL HEAD KICK.” Spinnin Backfist didn’t bother with full sentences.

The sequence worked because of how it was built. The leg kicks made Murzakhanov think about his lead leg, his attention dropped, and the kick came over the top of it. That’s patient, deliberate violence from a fighter who clearly game-planned the whole thing.
Neither Reyes nor Cormier mentioned what comes next for Reyes in their posts, and none of the reporting on the fight named a next opponent.

Quick take
Cormier came out of this looking like the adult, and Reyes knows it. DC’s reply was calm and specific, and it ended with something close to a hug. Reyes, meanwhile, spent his victory lap on a beef with a broadcaster when he’d just landed one of the cleanest setups of the night. If Reyes feels marginalized, the fix is more nights like Saturday, because nobody watching that leg-kick-to-head-kick sequence was underrating him. Picking a fight with the booth over a Jon Jones jab is how you get the clip of you yelling shared more than the clip of you winning, and that would be a waste of a beautiful finish.
