Dana White says Tyson Fury’s body isn’t the problem.
Sky Sports reported Saturday that White has ruled out injury concerns around Fury ahead of a heavyweight fight with Anthony Joshua that British boxing fans have been waiting on for the better part of a decade. That headline is all that’s surfaced so far. No direct quote from White on the state of Fury’s health has turned up in what’s been published, so treat the details as thin until he says more on the record.
The timing matters. Rumors about Fury’s physical condition had been hanging over the fight, and any doubt about a 6-foot-9 heavyweight’s health tends to spook everyone attached to the event. White, the UFC’s CEO, co-founded Zuffa Boxing in 2025 and works as its promoter, so his reassurance carries more weight than a casual opinion.

He’s also been stacking the card. On Wednesday, White announced Deontay Wilder vs. Jai Opetaia for the Fury vs. Joshua undercard, according to a post from Championship Rounds that cited White’s own account. Putting Wilder, who has fought Fury three times, on the same night as Fury is a matchmaker having fun. Opetaia moving up to share a card with that kind of power is the kind of booking I’ll always buy a ticket for.
Wilder and White apparently get along fine. In a clip Wilder posted Thursday, the former WBC champ asked White about his energy levels in the bedroom. White answered, “I feel like I’m in my thirties.” Wilder topped him: “I feel 19. The things I do, I swear.”

White has been talking all week. He told Jim Rome the UFC is working on Ilia Topuria’s return, saying, “He’ll come back in early 2027. We’re working on that.” He also said Islam Makhachev had verbally agreed to fight Carlos Prates before pulling out, adding, “I like when guys fight a lot, being the champ I’m not expecting you to fight 3 times a year but twice would be nice.”
No official date for Fury vs. Joshua has been confirmed in the reporting so far. What’s locked in is a heavyweight undercard with Wilder on it, and a promoter publicly betting that his headliner shows up healthy.
