The UFC is going back to Dallas. The promotion announced during the UFC 333 broadcast on Saturday that a Fight Night card will land at the American Airlines Center on Jan. 16, 2027, according to MMA Fighting. The event will stream on Paramount+, per the UFC’s own post on X, which teased the news with a cowboy emoji and the line “When the dust settles … we land in Texas.”
One early report from Aaron Bronsteter on X listed the date as January 26. The UFC’s post and Nolan King both have it at Jan. 16, and that’s the date MMA Fighting and Cageside Press ran with. So circle the 16th.
No main event, no co-main, no prelims. The card is a blank sheet right now, with bouts expected to trickle out over the coming weeks. Cageside Press reported that tickets are expected to go on sale next month.

Dallas has history
This is the UFC’s seventh visit to the city, and every one of the previous six happened inside the American Airlines Center. The last trip was UFC 277 on July 30, 2022, a pay-per-view headlined by the women’s bantamweight rematch between Amanda Nunes and Julianna Peña. Nunes took her belt back by unanimous decision. In the co-main, Brandon Moreno stopped Kai Kara-France by third-round TKO to claim the interim flyweight title.
Before that, Dallas hosted UFC 228 in 2018, when Tyron Woodley defended his welterweight title against Darren Till in the main event.
The difference this time is the format. Those were numbered pay-per-views. January’s show is a Fight Night, which usually means a deeper pool of up-and-comers and fewer marquee names at the top.

How the calendar shakes out
Dallas becomes the first UFC event of 2027, which also ends the holiday break the promotion has made a habit of taking from mid-December into mid-January, MMA Fighting noted.
The year closes in Las Vegas, where UFC 335 at T-Mobile Arena is headlined by Charles Oliveira vs. Diego Lopes for the BMF title, per Cageside Press. Two weeks after Dallas, the UFC heads to Toronto on Jan. 30. Cageside reported that flyweight champion Joshua Van defends against Manel Kape on that card, with Carlos Prates and Michael Morales fighting for an interim welterweight title after undisputed champ Islam Makhachev couldn’t make the date.
That puts Dallas in a tricky spot on the schedule. It’s sandwiched between a BMF fight with Oliveira in it and a Toronto card carrying two belts, so matchmakers have to build something that doesn’t feel like filler.

Quick take
I’d love to see this card leaned on for Texas talent and a couple of Contender Series signees getting thrown in early. A cold January Fight Night with no PPV pressure is the perfect spot to let a debutant from a 12-person gym walk out to a hungry Dallas crowd and swing for a bonus. The building has hosted Nunes, Woodley and Moreno. A Fight Night won’t pull names like that, so the matchmakers better make the first fights announced in the next few weeks count.
