Bloody Elbow threw a big number onto the timeline Saturday night. “Ilia Topuria vs Paddy Pimblett tipped to sell out 100,000-seat stadium: ‘Biggest fight UFC can make’,” the outlet wrote on X, linking to its story. The post doesn’t say who did the tipping, which stadium would host it or when, and it points to no booking.
The idea has obvious appeal on paper. Topuria (17-1) sits at No. 3 in the Knockout Daily lightweight rankings and is one of only 10 multi-division champions in UFC history, having held both the featherweight and lightweight belts. He was the first Georgian and Spanish fighter to win a UFC title. He was born in Germany to Georgian parents who were refugees from Abkhazia, moved to Georgia at seven, and moved again to Alicante, Spain, at 15. That gives him a fan base spread across several countries.
His one loss came against Justin Gaethje, and the UFC has spent this week releasing footage from that night. In one clip, Topuria drops Gaethje with a body shot in Round 2. In another, his brother Aleksandre tells him between rounds, “You’re up 2-0 brother.” After the result went the other way, Aleksandre held him and said, “You’re the best. This is a sport. You’re a man and that’s what matters most.” On Saturday, new video surfaced of Topuria training in Georgia with Georgian pro boxer Lasha Guruli.

Pimblett (24-4) is No. 6 at lightweight. He grew up in Huyton, Merseyside, and walked into Next Generation MMA in Liverpool at 15. He has never left. His UFC run includes a first-round knockout of Luigi Vendramini in his debut and a third-round TKO of Michael Chandler at UFC 314 in April 2025. He also has a loss to Gaethje. He dropped a unanimous decision to him for the interim lightweight title at UFC 324 on January 24, 2026. His most recent fight was July 11, 2026.

That shared Gaethje result is the awkward part of the pitch. Neither man can sell this as a fight for the belt Gaethje beat them to. It would be a European money fight between a former two-division champion and the biggest ticket draw in British MMA. The UFC tends to book those when the gate justifies it.
A 100,000-seat sellout is the kind of figure that gets repeated until somebody has to put a venue on a poster. Until a stadium and a date show up, the only firm news here is that Topuria is back in a Georgian gym with a pro boxer.
