Sean Strickland Torches UFC Sponsors and Only One Brand Survives the Rant

The former champ says he hates 99 percent of the UFC's sponsors, spares Monster, roasts Bud Light and Dodge, then admits he's just salty.

Sean Strickland logged on and chose violence against the people who pay for the banners. The rest of the feed was quieter: a Spanish-language callout, a champion cutting water, a fan stunned by a first-round choke, a stacked K-1 New Year’s card and Jake Paul doing promo duty. Here’s what fighters and the fight crowd were posting, biggest to smallest.

Sean Strickland

Strickland opened on X with a blanket indictment: “I hate 99 percent of the UFC sponsors besides monster. The only real ones in the game.” Then he went brand by brand. He wrote that “Budlight drops Dustin for using their product,” and finished that line with an anti-trans slur we’re not reprinting. He saved his best material for Dodge: “Dodge gives a car to max and the fucking thing breaks down a day after they gave it to him lmao.”

The Dodge bit is legitimately funny. A promotional car dying 24 hours after the handoff is a sitcom cold open, and Strickland knows it. The slur is the part that’ll follow this post around, and it hands his critics an easy reason to skip past the jokes. He at least gave the whole thing an honest label at the bottom: “And yes im just salty lol.” Most guys pretend their sponsor complaints are about principle. Strickland just tells you he’s bitter, which is the most Strickland move available. This was the most-engaged post of the day by a wide margin, so expect the UFC’s partners to stay a talking point whether the brands like it or not.

Gaston “Tonga” Reyno

Reyno posted a clip with an all-caps Spanish caption accusing somebody of delivering ground and pound with the pelvic area, which he called a terrible lack of respect. The post doesn’t say who’s in the clip, so we won’t guess. The caption alone is a five-star review, and it pulled the second-biggest numbers on today’s list.

Makoto Shinryu Takahashi

Takahashi gave a fight-week status report on X: media day is done, and he wrote that he was reunited with the belt for the first time in a week. He laid out the schedule plainly. Weigh-ins are tomorrow and he fights the day after. He said his first battle is the weight cut itself, which he vowed to finish properly. Calling the water cut his first fight is the most relatable thing a champion can say, and anyone who’s watched a guy sweat out the final pound in a sauna suit knows he’s right.

This account was floored by Tye Ruotolo submitting Christian Lee in Round 1. The post called it an unexpected first-round tapout and praised standup striking and ground-and-pound weight that didn’t look like a grappler’s. Ruotolo closed it with a rear-naked choke. The poster called it shocking for Lee to lose that way, and that’s the right read. When a jiu-jitsu ace starts hurting people on the feet, every future opponent’s game plan gets a lot shorter.

Genki Sudo

Sudo announced the second batch of bouts for K-1 WORLD MAX 2026 on December 29 at Yokohama BUNTAI. SAHO defends against Mona Kimura in a title fight he thinks could set a viewership record for a women’s bout. Mikio Ueda meets Claudio Istrate, and Sudo joked that Ueda was so big that if the two started brawling, nobody would be able to stop it. Rui Okubo faces Bobirjon Isroilov as a new challenge with an eye on 60kg, and Sudo said he’d like to book Okubo against Tomoya Yokoyama sometime next year. Heavyweight and middleweight world title fights are also locked in. Dangling Okubo vs Yokoyama before this card even happens is good promoting, the kind that gives fans a reason to care about two fights at once.

Jake Paul

Paul quoted Sky Sports Boxing’s tease of a big February 20 card and added: “Yes indeed. Live in prime time in the UK. Dubois vs Han. Road to undisputed. Live on Sky Sports.” That’s a promoter’s post, short and on-message, with “Road to undisputed” carrying the hype. It also drew the fewest engagements on today’s list, 45, which says a lot about what the timeline cared about today. Dubois vs Han goes February 20 on Sky Sports.
