Raoni Barcelos was back at the Meta Apex on Saturday night, and by every account posted from inside the building, he looked like himself. The bantamweight veteran attended UFC Vegas 122 with his family, roughly two weeks after the health scare connected to his fight with Raul Rosas Jr. at UFC Vegas 121.
The UFC’s Paramount+ account posted footage of him in the crowd with the caption “Raoni Barcelos in the house,” and Aaron Bronsteter shared it with a simple “You love to see it.” Home of Fight wrote on X that Barcelos looked healthy and happy with his family. On Sunday, UFC Brasil posted that Barcelos was present at the event and brought updates about his health. A post on r/MMA titled “Raoni Barcelos looking healthy at the Apex” racked up more than 750 upvotes, enough to land it among the subreddit’s most popular media posts of the week.
How we got here
The details of what happened to Barcelos after the Rosas Jr. fight haven’t been laid out in full in the material available here. What has been reported is that it involved a hospital stay, and that Dana White weighed in afterward. An SI/FanNation piece carried the headline “UFC’s Dana White Offers Critical Advice After Raoni Barcelos’s Hospital Stint.” MMA Sucka framed Saturday’s appearance as Barcelos returning to the Apex spotlight two weeks after the UFC Vegas 121 scare. I’m not going to fill in the medical gaps with guesses, and you shouldn’t trust anybody who does.

The card he watched was headlined by Brendan Allen and Christian Leroy Duncan at middleweight, a fight DraftKings had as close to a pick’em as you get, Allen at -122 and Duncan at +102. Rosas Jr. was in Las Vegas that weekend too, though his Saturday looked a little different. The UFC’s content account posted video of him running out of the tunnel with the UNLV Rebels and head coach Dan Mullen before their game against North Dakota State.

What’s next
There is no fight booked for Barcelos and no target date in anything published so far. The clips circulating show a guy who’s upright, smiling and surrounded by his kids, and the UFC Brasil post points to a health update. A return timeline or opponent would need to come from Barcelos or the UFC directly, and neither has put one out yet.
My take: this is the best kind of fight-week news, the kind with no betting angle at all. I’ve spent years complaining about guys coming off long layoffs at short odds, and if Barcelos takes all the time he wants before he walks back into the Octagon, I’ll happily sit on my hands until a doctor and a matchmaker both sign off. Saturday, he was a dad in the stands at the Apex, two weeks after people were worried about him, and that clip did more for my mood than any line I bet on that card.
