“@NataliaSilvaUFC is the fourth undisputed UFC women’s flyweight champion. She ties Valentina Shevchenko for the longest win streak in Women’s Flyweight history with her 9th consecutive win,” the UFC wrote on X after UFC 332.
That streak didn’t buy her much respect at the betting window. Sherdog reported that early odds for a potential Silva vs. Shevchenko fight have the brand-new champion opening as the underdog. A woman holding the belt and sharing the division’s longest win streak is getting less love than the challenger. I’ve seen stranger lines, but not many.
Silva took the title by beating Wang Cong on Oct. 3, winning a unanimous decision on scores of 48-47, 48-47 and 49-46. That’s a clear win on the cards without being a blowout. The Brazilian, who trains with Team Borracha, is now 21-5-1 and sits No. 2 in the Knockout Daily women’s flyweight rankings. She had at least one famous name in her corner of the internet during the card, too. Bantamweight star Merab Dvalishvili wrote on X, “It’s going to be a great fight between these two ladies, but I’m cheering for Natalia Silva 🦾🇧🇷”

Shevchenko is 26-4-1, ranked No. 1 at flyweight, and a former two-time UFC women’s flyweight champion. She’s widely considered one of the best women ever to compete in MMA, and that reputation is exactly what the books are pricing in. She also didn’t sit quietly. MMA Junkie posted that Shevchenko wasted no time sending a message to Silva after UFC 332.
The detail I keep circling is the calendar. Shevchenko last fought on Nov. 15, 2025, so she’s already coming up on 11 months out of the cage. Any booking that slides into 2027 puts her past a full year away. I’ve been burned enough times by name-brand favorites returning from long breaks that I’d want to see where this number settles before I lay any juice on it.

On the other side, a reigning champ who has won nine in a row and just went five rounds is the kind of underdog I like to look at hard. The market is betting Shevchenko’s history. The current form belongs to Silva.
No date or venue has been announced, and the UFC hasn’t confirmed the fight. For now there’s an opening line, and it says the woman with the belt is the one with something to prove.
