Michael 'Venom' Page Says He's 'Free of the Shackles' After the UFC Let Him Walk

The 39-year-old went 5-1 in the UFC, wasn't re-signed, and has now inked a multi-fight deal with Misfits Boxing.

Michael Page is done with the UFC and headed to boxing. Venom signed a multi-fight deal with Misfits Boxing, and he’s making it clear he won’t miss the old job.

KSI stepped into the ring at Misfits Fight Night at the Copper Box Arena in London on Saturday, Oct. 10, to announce the signing. Page then made his entrance in full Undertaker, WWE-style fashion, which tells you plenty about what he thinks he was missing. No opponent or debut date has been announced.

Speaking to The Stomping Ground afterward, Page said the deal came together fast. “To be fair, this one happened relatively quickly,” he said, adding that as recently as three or four days earlier, “it still wasn’t 100 percent confirmed where we’re going.”

Then he got to the part about the UFC.

“I feel free of the shackles,” Page said. He called himself “a very creative person” and pointed to “my walkouts, my entrances, my exits” as things he wasn’t allowed to do in the Octagon. At Misfits, he said, the message has been to be himself.

He was blunter about the matchmaking. “I was top-10 in two divisions, I was calling out everybody, wasn’t getting any feedback,” Page said. He told the outlet he “felt very restricted” and believes there were big fights left on the table. “I just feel like there’s so much more the UFC could be doing for fighters,” he said, though he also credited the promotion as the biggest show in MMA with a deep roster of talent.

How the UFC run ended

Page fought out his contract with a decision win over Nursulton Ruziboev at UFC Paris in September, pushing his UFC record to 5-1. ESPN reported his deal expired that month, and the UFC chose not to re-sign him despite rankings at both welterweight and middleweight. Earlier in 2026, on March 21, he beat Sam Patterson at welterweight at The O2 in London.

The lone UFC loss came by decision to Ian Machado Garry at UFC 303 in June 2024. Garry has since challenged for the welterweight title.

MMA Fighting called it a head-scratching run, and the start of it was strange too. His signing was announced as close to an afterthought during a Dana White post-event press conference, after years as a Bellator standout.

This also won’t be his first time fighting outside MMA rules. Page fought Mike Perry in the BKFC 27 main event in August 2022 and lost a majority decision in a bout that went to an extra round.

My take: the UFC let a 39-year-old who went 5-1, sat in two divisions’ top 10 and calls out everyone walk out the door. Page didn’t dress it up. He said he felt boxed in and went somewhere that wants the theatrics. At 39 he doesn’t have years to wait on a callback. Now Misfits has to give him a name worth the walkout, and right now there’s still no date and no opponent.
