Loopy Godinez Got the Decision at UFC Vegas 122, Then Got Sent for CT Scans

The strawweight left the Meta Apex with a unanimous decision almost nobody agreed with and a trip to a Las Vegas hospital for scans on her head and face.

Loopy Godinez won her fight Saturday night. She also spent part of the night after it getting looked at by doctors. UFC officials confirmed to MMA Mania that Godinez was taken to a local Las Vegas hospital for precautionary CT scans of her head and face after her unanimous decision win over Ketlen Souza at UFC Vegas 122 on Oct. 10, 2026, inside the Meta Apex.

She was the only fighter from the card the promotion confirmed as transported. When MMA Mania published its report, the results of her scans hadn’t been made public.

The hospital trip is the medical part of the story. The scorecards are the part people are still yelling about. All three cageside judges gave the fight to Godinez, and almost nobody else saw it that way. MMA Mania reported that every media outlet except one scored the bout for Souza, and fans were calling it a robbery before the cage door opened. By that account, the Brazilian landed the heavier shots and took the first two rounds cleanly. If you win the first two rounds of a three-rounder, you’re supposed to get your hand raised. That’s the whole math.

Instead Godinez moves to 15-6. The 33-year-old was coming off a second-round submission loss to former title challenger Tatiana Suarez, a result that ended a two-fight winning streak. So on paper she’s back in the win column, and the record book won’t carry an asterisk for a split crowd or a lopsided media scorecard tally. One judge’s opinion lasts forever. Everybody else’s lasts until the next card.

Some perspective on the hospital part. The UFC sends fighters for precautionary checks all the time, especially after hard three-round fights, ugly knockouts, or injuries that need a closer look. A CT scan on the head and face after 15 minutes of taking Souza’s best shots is the cautious move, and it shouldn’t be read as bad news until somebody says otherwise. The card as a whole got described as violent, and Godinez was the one fighter the UFC confirmed it sent out for evaluation.

My take: the scans aren’t what bugs me. The fighter who supposedly lost is the one who walked out without a hospital visit, and the fighter who supposedly won is the one getting her face imaged. That doesn’t prove the judges blew it, but it’s an odd look, and it lines up with what nearly every scorer outside the cage reported. If I’m Souza’s camp, I’m pulling the strike numbers, pointing at the first two rounds, and asking for the rematch the second Godinez gets cleared. If I’m a bettor who had Souza, I’m doing what I always do after the Apex judges get creative. I’m grumbling, tearing up the slip, and checking whether MMA Mania has posted Godinez’s scan results yet.
