Jorge Masvidal Says Famous Fighters Sang and Brought Flowers to Win Over Kayla Harrison

Gamebred claims some well-known fighters went full romance mode for the UFC bantamweight champion, and Sherdog's teaser left the would-be suitors unnamed.

Jorge Masvidal has some stories about Kayla Harrison’s admirers. According to a Sherdog report published Tuesday, “Gamebred” claims several famous fighters went all out trying to impress the UFC bantamweight champion, with some singing to her and others showing up with flowers.

Sherdog promoted the story on X with a rose emoji and asked who the mystery admirers were. The teaser didn’t put names to any of the would-be suitors, so the serenaders stay anonymous for now. Whoever they are, they picked a bold target. Harrison is a two-time Olympic judo champion who turned into a two-time PFL tournament winner before she ever stepped into the octagon.

The gossip lands about a month before the biggest fight of her life. Harrison defends her bantamweight title against Amanda Nunes at UFC 334 on Nov. 14 in New York. That card is headlined by Ciryl Gane vs. Josh Hokit for the vacant heavyweight title at Madison Square Garden. The two women trained together years ago, back when Nunes was ruling the UFC’s bantamweight and featherweight divisions. Harrison arrived in the UFC in 2024, but Nunes had already retired by then. Nunes announced a comeback in 2025, and the pair were booked for UFC 324 until Harrison’s neck forced her out.

That injury was ugly. On the Deep Waters podcast, Harrison said she has five herniated discs and ended up needing a two-level fusion after doctors ruled out the disc replacement she wanted. Two weeks before the original Nunes date, she couldn’t lift her arm. She said she was sleeping maybe three hours a night through what she called “lightning bolts” of nerve pain. She had surgery the morning after a doctor in New York examined her. Now she sounds like herself again. “I feel awesome,” Harrison said. “I’m back. I’m back.”

Her last fight was a second-round submission of Julianna Peña at UFC 316 in June 2025, which won her the belt. Peña hasn’t competed since. She returns on the same night Harrison fights Nunes, wrestling Diana Avsaragova in a middleweight match at RAF Abu Dhabi on Nov. 14.

Harrison vs. Nunes has its own fan club in high places. Alex Pereira, who’s angry about the UFC 334 heavyweight booking, has said he believed Nunes vs. Harrison deserved the headline spot over Gane vs. Hokit.

My take: I respect anyone who walks up to a woman who throws people for a living and starts singing. It takes more nerve than a lot of walkouts I’ve seen. Masvidal clearly enjoys sitting on the names, and I hope somebody eventually confesses. Harrison’s next big date has nothing to do with roses, though. It’s Nunes, Nov. 14, five rounds for the belt, and the rest of us are waiting to find out if she really is who she says she is.
