Jorge Masvidal Reveals White House Card Fallout, Circles 'Next Year' for UFC Return

Masvidal is teasing an Octagon comeback after plans tied to the White House card collapsed, and he's also handing Jose Aldo a wild endorsement against Islam and Khabib.

Jorge Masvidal wants back in the Octagon, and he’s put a rough window on it. MMA Sucka reported Monday that Masvidal teased a UFC return after revealing that plans connected to the White House card fell apart. The outlet boiled his timeline down to two words, “Next Year,” and with the calendar sitting in late October 2026, that points us straight at 2027.

The reporting available so far doesn’t spell out what exactly went sideways with the White House card. So I’m not going to pretend I know who balked, who walked, or whether a contract ever got close to a signature. Here’s what we do know. Masvidal had some stake in that card, it fell through, and his response was to point back toward the UFC instead of shrugging and going home.

Gamebred keeps him busy

Masvidal hasn’t exactly been sitting on a couch waiting for the phone to ring. He runs Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA, and the promotion has been pulling in names from the bare-knuckle scene. Essentially Sports noted in a piece about Mike Perry’s murky BKFC future that former multi-division BKFC champion Luis Palomino crossed over into MMA under the Gamebred banner after losing to Austin Trout at BKFC 85 on Dec. 5, 2025. That’s a real get for a promoter. The promoter side of Masvidal’s life has momentum. The fighter side is the part people want answers on.

He’s still talking like a guy who watches fights with a notepad, too. In a clip shared by Dovy on X, Masvidal was asked about Jose Aldo going up against Islam or Khabib, and he didn’t hedge even a little.

“The only guy I would send in there to fight them is Aldo. He would probably beat them all.”

Plenty of people will want to argue with that one, and they’re welcome to. I respect a man who picks one name, says it out loud, and doesn’t add an asterisk. That’s the same energy that made Masvidal fun to follow in the first place, the guy who says the quiet part into a microphone and lets the internet sort out the mess.

My take

I want this to be real. A Masvidal comeback walk, with the music hitting and that crowd losing its mind, is the kind of thing the UFC should be begging for, and frankly the sport could use a few more villains and wild cards who actually show up. But “next year” gives him 12 months of wiggle room, no opponent, no weight class and no card attached. I’ve seen enough teases evaporate the second somebody asks for a date. A canceled White House plan tells me the appetite is there on his end. Now somebody has to put a name across from his. Until a matchup gets announced, I’m penciling Gamebred into 2027 and leaving the ink for when the UFC posts a fight poster.
