Jake Shields Calls Nazis 'the Good Guys' in Late-Night Posts Defending Hitler

The former UFC welterweight title challenger also bragged about wearing a Nazi costume in college and asked followers for their 'honest views on Adolf Hitler.'

Jake Shields spent roughly 10 minutes early Monday morning posting about Adolf Hitler on X. The former UFC title challenger quoted a clip from the account @604RAW, captioned “A kid in Langley dressed up as Hitler for Halloween while a group of girls cheered him on,” and added his own memory of a similar costume.

“When I dressed as a Nazi in college I got in 5 fight in the first hour and decided to end the night early,” he wrote on X. “It’s nice seeing the youth break the spell and finally realize that the nazi’s were actually the good guys.”

About six minutes later he asked his followers, “What are your honest views on Adolf Hitler?” He wrote that 95% of people hated Hitler three years ago, and he claimed that many now love him and others are becoming open to him. Shields offered no evidence for those numbers.

A third post, timestamped 8:43 GMT on Nov. 2, came before both. In it, Shields used an ableist slur for people who compare Donald Trump to Hitler. He then used an antisemitic slur and wrote that Hitler would have put that person in a concentration camp and “turned him into soap or a lampshade.”

Who Shields was in the cage

Before all this, Shields was one of the better grapplers of his era at welterweight and middleweight. He was a two-time junior college All-American wrestler at Cuesta College, trained at the Cesar Gracie Gym and called his style “American Jiu-Jitsu.” He took third at ADCC in 2005. He held the Shooto, Rumble on the Rock and EliteXC welterweight titles, the last of those won by guillotine over Nick Thompson. He later won the vacant Strikeforce middleweight belt against Jason “Mayhem” Miller and defended it by unanimous decision over Dan Henderson on April 17, 2010.

That run became a 15-fight winning streak spanning six years. It carried into the UFC, where he edged Martin Kampmann by split decision at UFC 121 in October 2010. Georges St-Pierre ended the streak with a five-round unanimous decision at UFC 129 in Toronto on April 30, 2011, in a fight for the welterweight title.

Where he is now

Shields is retired from competition and hosts the Fight Back podcast. His Wikipedia entry describes him as a right-wing political activist and says he has promoted white nationalism, antisemitism including Holocaust denial, anti-LGBTQ rhetoric and conspiracy theories. Monday’s posts fit that record. With no fights on his calendar, the only platform he is using is his X account, and he was still posting from it at 8:53 GMT.
