Jake Paul Slams the Door on a Tommy Fury Rematch, and Fury's Team Is Firing Back

Fury promised on X to "break the other side of your jaw," and Paul answered with two words that killed the rematch talk: "Never happening."

Jake Paul says the Tommy Fury rematch is dead. Fury’s people are now pushing back. A Halloween video turned into a full-blown social media brawl on Sunday, and by the end of it Paul had told Fury, in so many words, to go find another payday.

Bloody Elbow reported that Paul went after Fury on social media over a leaked clip that appeared to show Fury being removed from a Halloween event. Paul clowned his rival’s appearance in the video and dragged Fury’s fiancee, Molly-Mae, into it. That pulled Fury off the bench. He fired back from his rarely used X account: “Well well well. Look who can’t keep my name out their mouth. I’ll see you very soon buddy. Time to break the other side of your jaw.” The post ended with an insult that won’t make it past our editors.

Paul’s answer was about as subtle as a Tyson uppercut. “Never happening. Ship has sailed,” he wrote. Then he got personal again and took more shots at Fury’s home life.

By Monday, Fury’s team had responded to the claims around the feud, according to headlines from Crave Online and Reality Tea. Those outlets framed it as the Fury camp answering Paul’s version of events. The specific terms and negotiation details weren’t in the material available to us, so I’m not going to guess at what was or wasn’t on the table.

How We Got Here

Paul and Fury met in Saudi Arabia in 2023 in one of the year’s biggest-selling fights. It went the full eight rounds and ended in a split decision for Fury. Paul did score a late knockdown, but it came too late to change the result. That knockdown is the only reason Paul fans still bring the fight up.

The two have gone in very different directions since. Paul has stacked enormous paydays against Nate Diaz, Mike Tyson and Anthony Joshua, among others, and he’s been publicly floating a hitlist of planned MMA and boxing fights. Fury has fought only three times. He beat KSI comfortably in front of a home crowd, returned in May of last year against Kenan Hanjalic and picked up a strange exhibition win over Eddie Hall.

Until this weekend, the two had mostly ignored each other for years. Then one Halloween clip went around and the beef was back.

My Take

Nobody gets to pick a fight with a guy on Sunday and then call the rematch dead on Sunday night. Paul started this. He’s the one who brought up the video, and he’s the one who brought Fury’s fiancee into it. If the ship really sailed, he’s the one who keeps rowing back to the dock to yell at it. Fury is the only man in this whole circus who has a win over Jake Paul, and Paul would rather fight anybody else on Earth than give him a second crack. That’s a duck, and the knockdown story doesn’t change it. Paul can call it business. I’ll believe the rematch is dead when he stops typing Tommy Fury’s name.
