Georges St-Pierre has reacted to the UFC 333 main event in Abu Dhabi, according to MMA Sucka. The outlet published his response to Alexander Volkanovski’s second-round TKO of Movsar Evloev on Monday. The material available to us carries only that headline, so we don’t have St-Pierre’s exact words yet. We won’t guess at them. This story will be updated when the full reaction is confirmed.
The fight he was responding to is well documented. On Saturday, October 24, Volkanovski stopped Evloev in Round 2 to keep the featherweight title. The UFC confirmed the TKO on X within moments of the finish. Evloev didn’t sulk afterward. He offered one of the better losing-locker-room lines you’ll hear this year, in a clip posted by UFC on Paramount+: “He’s like good wine. Older, stronger, better.” Then he went a step further and called Volkanovski a legend.
Praise from St-Pierre carries real weight. GSP is widely considered one of the greatest fighters ever. He defended the welterweight title nine straight times and still holds the UFC welterweight records for title-fight wins (12) and takedowns landed (87). He came out of retirement at UFC 217 in November 2017 to submit Michael Bisping for the middleweight belt. A grappler with that résumé watching a champion handle Evloev’s style is the kind of reaction the sport pays attention to.

Volkanovski is now 29-4 and sits at No. 1 in Knockout Daily’s featherweight rankings. Wikipedia listed him at No. 2 in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings as of June. He already held the record for most featherweight title victories in UFC history. He became the oldest man to win the 145-pound belt at 36, and the oldest to defend it at 38. Saturday added another finish to that list, which is a strange thing to say about a guy many people had written off a couple of years ago.

What comes next might not be at featherweight. After the win, Volkanovski said he wants to move up and face Justin Gaethje in a retirement fight, according to a post from Championship Rounds. “I don’t want to hold divisions up, but I believe we could do this and not hold the divisions up,” he said. “That’s something I’d retire for. If they want to give me that opportunity, win or lose I’d retire.”
The UFC hasn’t announced anything. Later that night, Volkanovski posed for a photo with Petr Yan, who also won at UFC 333. Two champions-level résumés stood in one frame while the featherweight division waits to learn whether its king is already planning his exit.
