EA Sports is bringing Fight Night back. On Tuesday, October 20, the publisher confirmed that its boxing franchise is getting a full reboot, which ends a 15-year drought that began after 2011’s Fight Night Champion. The official @EASPORTSFN account broke the news on X, and the company’s statement read, “To everyone who stayed in our corner: Fight Night is coming back.” BJPenn.com reported the announcement, and the Say Cheese account also pushed it around X.
EA has shared nothing beyond that confirmation. There’s no release date, no platform list, no cover athlete and no gameplay footage. As of Tuesday night, the company had only said the game is coming.
Where It’s Been
If you grew up on these games, the gap feels a lot longer than 15 years. Before the EA UFC series became the publisher’s main combat sports property, Fight Night was the boxing game, the one your buddy got way too competitive about on a couch at 2 a.m. Champion was the last entry, and it put a fictional fighter named Andre Bishop on the cover.

After that, the series went silent. Reports in 2024 said developers were working on a reboot. Over the past year that hope cooled, as reports surfaced of development roadblocks. Tuesday’s statement is EA formally saying the project is still on course, for a date it won’t name yet.
The timing makes sense. EA released UFC 6 earlier this summer, and BJPenn.com suggested the publisher will likely turn its full attention to the boxing relaunch now that the Octagon game is out. EA has run this play before, too. It brought its college football series back after a decade on the shelf.
Boxing is also about as noisy as it gets right now. Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua is deep in its promotional build, and Dana White and Eddie Hearn keep trading shots over that fight while Zuffa Boxing tries to muscle into the sport. September gave us Ryan Garcia vs. Conor Benn for a WBC welterweight title. A boxing game launched into that kind of chaos has plenty of real-life storylines to borrow.

Tommy’s Take
Finally. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen people post old Fight Night knockout clips with some version of “EA, please.” So this is a win, and I’ll take it. I’m still keeping my celebration in the locker room until EA shows actual footage. A reboot that took this long and hit reported roadblocks along the way has to come out with a deep career mode and a real roster. If EA buries it under card packs and paid boosts, it’ll be treating boxing fans like ATMs, and we’ve waited too long for that. Right now the whole announcement is one sentence, a glove emoji and a heart.
