Dana White was offered $20 million to box Eddie Hearn, and he answered with a side-eye that could curdle milk. The question came at the latest Contender Series post-fight press conference, where a reporter laid out the pitch from Misfits boss Kalle Sauerland: a 6-round fight, 2-minute rounds, $20 million winner-take-all. She could not get through it with a straight face.
“Misfits has offered you $20 million to put on the fight between you and Eddie Hearn (breaks into laughter). I know,” she said.
White let the silence hang for a second before he gave her one line. “Sounds like they got what they were looking for,” he said. Championship Rounds posted the clip on X, and fans piled on the reporter instead of the guy getting offered eight figures to throw hands.

EssentiallySports rounded up the reaction, and it was rough. One fan wrote, “A lot of people are wasting their credentials.” Another went with, “Give her the Ariel treatment,” a reference to the UFC pulling Ariel Helwani’s on-site credentials after he broke the news of Brock Lesnar’s return at UFC 200 before the promotion could announce it. For the record, laughing through a question about a Misfits offer is nowhere near that, and there’s no sign she’s in any trouble.
White has a long history of swatting questions at the podium. At the UFC 295 press conference, a reporter asked whether he’d work with the PFL to make Jon Jones vs. Francis Ngannou, and White called the question stupid.

The funny part is that White helped build this whole bit. On Piers Morgan’s show in March 2026, he said that if Hearn wanted to box, the two of them could box. At the UFC 327 post-fight presser, he said Turki Alalshikh was interested in the fight. Misfits jumped in around then with an opening offer of $10 million, which has now doubled. Hearn told EssentiallySports in April that Alalshikh planned to offer $60 million, with $30 million going to each man. MMA Fighting’s Jed Meshew summed it up neatly: White pitched the fight first, Hearn said he was in, and then White called it dumb.
Paddy Pimblett has heard enough. He told All Out Fighting he thinks Hearn would win, then said the fight is never going to happen, which makes the whole idea the dumbest thing he’s ever heard. He’s also tired of the two promoters bickering over Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua, with White insisting he’s heavily involved in the promotion and Hearn saying White will mostly be watching from the sidelines. Pimblett called the whole back-and-forth childish. He’s picking Joshua, pointing to Fury’s layoffs. Fury has retired twice in the past five years, and his recent wins over Mariusz Wach and Arslanbek Makhmudov were uneven.

My take: leave the reporter alone. A $20 million offer to the UFC’s CEO is a legitimate news item, and the man who told Piers Morgan he was up for boxing Hearn doesn’t get to treat the follow-up like a parking ticket. Promoter beef that dies the moment someone puts real money on the table is the exact manufactured stuff I can’t stand, and White started this one himself. Still, I’d pay to watch two middle-aged moguls go six 2-minute rounds. If White won’t sign, the bickering at least has a hard deadline when Fury and Joshua finally meet on Dec. 11.
