Conor McGregor Rips Darren Till's BKFC Win Over Yoel Romero as a Glorified Spar

The BKFC co-owner said he was disgusted by Till's decision win and suggested his rising Scottish star Sean Weir has no use for the matchup.

Conor McGregor co-owns BKFC with David Feldman, and he just spent part of a press conference trashing one of the promotion’s biggest drawing cards. Speaking after the promotion’s event at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro, McGregor went after Darren Till’s recent decision win over Yoel Romero and called it a spar, according to Bloody Elbow.

The shot came while McGregor was talking up Sean Weir, the Scottish fighter he described as the UK champion. Weir sold more than 3,000 tickets for the Glasgow card and then finished his opponent in the first round in front of a packed arena. McGregor said Weir had been offered Till as an opponent and dismissed the idea outright.

“The f would he want a name for? He wants a world title,” McGregor said. “We are in this business for world title honors.”

Then he turned the hose directly on Till.

“We’re not in it for celebrity white collar boxing, which is what the last one was. A spar. The first bare-knuckle spar I’ve ever seen with little handshakes to the side of the head. I was disgusted by it.”

For context, the Till vs. Romero fight wasn’t exactly a tea party. Romero dropped Till late in the third round, and Till got back up and took the decision. Bloody Elbow described the bout as carrying the usual BKFC blood but light on actual violence. It was also a business success. The card drew a record-breaking crowd to Manchester’s AO Arena, which is the kind of number an owner usually brags about rather than spits on.

The clip spread quickly on X, where the Full Send MMA account posted video of the rant. Bloody Elbow characterized the whole press conference as outlandish, and the Till segment was the moment that got the most attention.

What this means for a potential Weir vs. Till booking is murky. Till was apparently floated as a future opponent for the Scot, and the guy who signs part of the checks just said publicly that Weir doesn’t need him. That’s a strange negotiating position for a promoter, unless the goal is to make Till angry enough to want the fight more.

McGregor’s own fighting future is a separate thread. Bloody Elbow has also reported that McGregor says he will “lay down” his gloves but not retire after a final UFC fight in 2027.

Sal’s take: I’ve been around long enough to know an owner calling his own record gate disgusting is either a genuine purist moment or the opening bid on a grudge match, and I’d put my money on the second one at any price. Till got dropped late in Round 3, climbed off the floor and won anyway, which is more drama than half the favorites I’ve bet on this year managed. McGregor is right that it wasn’t a slugfest. He’s also selling Sean Weir, and the fastest way to make Weir a bigger star is to make him the guy who turned down Darren Till. If Till fires back, the fight McGregor says nobody needs just became the fight everybody in Glasgow and Manchester will pay to see.
