Canelo Tells Turki He's Still Fighting in Riyadh This October No Matter What

Turki Alalshikh says Canelo personally reached out to confirm the date, while Shayna Baszler walked out of Bound for Glory with TNA tag gold.

Turki Alalshikh

Turki Alalshikh posted on X that the biggest name in boxing called him directly. “Canelo reached out and told me he’ll still fight in Riyadh this October, no matter what happens. He fears nothing,” @Turki_alalshikh wrote. He followed it with a defense of his country as a “land of peace, safety, rich civilization, deep history, and kind-hearted people,” thanked everyone who checked in and closed with “Hard times reveal true friends.” He never says what the hard times are, so I won’t fill in the blanks. The takeaway is simple: Canelo is on record, through Turki, for an October fight in Riyadh, and when Turki posts something like this, it reads as a public commitment.

Shayna Baszler

Two words, and both of them were an I-told-you-so. That’s all @QoSBaszler needed after TNA announced her and Zoey Serrano as the new Knockouts World Tag Team Champions at Bound for Glory. I love a fighter who calls the shot, and Baszler quote-tweeting her own coronation with a receipt is peak villain energy. No speech, no thank-you list. Just the gloat, delivered cold.

Sean O’Malley

Suga is now officially a football insider. “@Jahmyr_Gibbs1 told me before the game they were guna hit the salute after they scored. @amonra_stbrown,” @SugaSeanMMA wrote, quoting the NFL clip of Gibbs finishing a dominant drive with a touchdown in Detroit vs. Arizona on FOX. So O’Malley got the celebration spoiler before kickoff, and Gibbs and Amon-Ra St. Brown actually delivered. Crossover content is my favorite genre, and knowing the end zone choreography in advance is a very O’Malley flex.

Amanda Serrano

Serrano is training with two deadlines. On @Serranosisters, she posted that she’s getting in shape for her Final Fight and also for a TV show back home on her island, tagging it with a Puerto Rican flag. Then she added, “It’s a Girl Thing to Look Amazing while on TV and in Display 🤣.” Those two words, Final Fight, are the headline here. She’s calling it her last one, and she’s apparently prepping for a TV gig in Puerto Rico at the same time, which is a pretty great way to spend a farewell camp.

Shinya Aoki

Aoki posted a thoughtful one in Japanese about how fighting gets lumped in with other risky behavior. On X, @a_ok_i said he understands why people would talk about Hiroyuki’s danjiri accident in the same breath as boxing and combat sports under the 愚行権 argument (roughly, the right to do foolish things). He also said he understands fighters pushing back with a plea not to be put in the same box, and that getting tossed into that box is exactly what the sport should be careful about. It’s a sharp read from a guy who has spent his career defending fighting as a choice adults get to make.

Muhammad Mokaev

Mokaev dropped a workout receipt with zero commentary. He checked off a 26-minute bike ride up a hill, then listed “Circuit weights training” and “Swimming 30mins.” on @muhammadmokaev. Hill climb, circuits and a half hour in the pool, all in one post. No callout, no trash talk, just the checklist. Somebody get this man a villain arc, because the cardio is clearly already there.

Roxanne Modafferi

And your wholesome post of the day goes to the Happy Warrior. “I was a druid at the Renaissance Fair this weekend!!” @Roxyfighter wrote, with the photos to prove it. Two exclamation points, full commitment to the bit. Roxy has always been the most delightful person in any room she walks into, and that apparently includes rooms full of people in chainmail eating turkey legs.
