Canelo Alvarez and Christian Mbilli stepped on the scale Friday in Riyadh, and their WBC super middleweight title fight is set for Saturday night (Oct. 31, 2026) at Kingdom Arena. Turki Alalshikh posted the weigh-in on X in Arabic and English, writing that the two “tip the scales ahead of their super middleweight showdown,” alongside a separate clip billed simply as the official weigh-in.
The ceremonial business kicked off at 2 p.m. ET, with MMA Mania’s Jesse Holland carrying the live stream for anyone who wanted to watch two grown men stare at each other in their underwear for a few seconds. Alalshikh’s posts didn’t list official numbers, so the exact weights will have to wait on the commission sheet. What matters is the fight is on, and it’s on Halloween.
Canelo’s read on Mbilli
Alvarez didn’t pretend this was an easy night at the office. Speaking to ESPN before fight week wrapped, he described Mbilli as a high-output problem. “We know he’s a fighter with a lot of stamina who throws a lot of punches,” Alvarez said. “He’s a world champion for a reason.”

That respect only went so far. Alvarez said his camp built its conditioning specifically to keep pace with Mbilli’s volume, and that he plans to lean on the years he’s spent at the top level to answer it. Then he flipped the pressure back across the ring. “He’s a great fighter, but he’s never faced a fighter like myself with my characteristics,” Alvarez said. “Obviously, with the experience I have and having fought at this level for so many years, he has to do a lot.”
It’s an interesting framing from the guy with the bigger name. Alvarez is essentially telling everyone that the work rate will come from the other corner and that his job is to make Mbilli pay for every one of those punches. He also said the camp had been “working very hard and very deliberately,” which reads like a fighter who knows exactly what style is walking toward him.
What’s next
The WBC super middleweight belt is on the line Saturday at Kingdom Arena. Expect the full card details and fight-night coverage to roll out as the event approaches.

My take: Canelo saying Mbilli “has to do a lot” is the most honest line of fight week, and it’s also a dare. If Mbilli really throws the way Alvarez described, we’re getting a fight with pace, and the question becomes whether a veteran’s timing can blunt a volume puncher over 12 rounds. If Mbilli gets shy and starts admiring the guy across from him, it turns into a long night of Canelo picking spots and nobody leaving their seat for the right reasons. I’m hoping Mbilli takes the invitation. Saturday, Riyadh, Halloween night.
