Bruce Buffer Says He's Got Plenty of Gas Left as Deal Reportedly Runs Through 2032

The UFC's longtime Octagon announcer fired off a defiant post on X, and hours later a report put his contract extension six years down the road.

Bruce Buffer has no interest in winding down. He made that loud and clear on Friday, which is the only volume he has.

In a post on X on Oct. 16, Buffer wrote that his passion for introducing UFC fighters to the world keeps getting stronger and that he still has plenty of gas left in the tank. He capped it with his signature call in all caps, plus a microphone, a fire emoji and a fist.

The post doesn’t mention a contract, a term, or a number of years. It reads like a man answering a question nobody asked out loud, which usually means somebody asked it.

The specifics came from Gaston Reyno, who posted on X about three and a half hours later that Buffer had re-signed. Writing in Spanish, Reyno reported that Buffer renewed his deal through 2032 and that fans will be hearing the trademark call for a long time.

That 2032 date comes from a report. Nobody has confirmed it yet. Neither Buffer’s post nor anything from the UFC in the material available here spells out the length of the extension. Buffer’s own announcement leans on a microphone, a fire emoji and a fist, which is about as close to a cryptic-emoji reveal as I’m willing to tolerate. At least Reyno put a year on it.

Why it matters

Buffer is the veteran Octagon announcer, the voice that goes off right before the fighters touch gloves. Promotions can swap out a lot of things on a fight night broadcast. The guy who tells the arena it’s time isn’t high on that list, and the UFC apparently knows it.

If the reported terms hold, Buffer is locked in for six more years from the date of the post. Do the math on that. A prospect making a debut this fall could realistically come up through the rankings and hear Buffer read off his record before a title fight. A champion holding a belt today could hear the same voice introduce him on the way out.

It also kills whatever retirement chatter was floating around before anyone could build a storyline out of it. Buffer chose to say he’s still got gas in the tank instead of letting a press release say it for him, and I’ll always take the straight answer.

What comes next is an official word from the UFC on the length of the deal. Until then, the confirmation on record is a man yelling his catchphrase in all caps and dropping a fist emoji, which for Bruce Buffer is basically a notarized document.
