“Dana White CRASHES OUT after a question about Eddie Hearn 😂” MMA account Dovy (@DovySimuMMA) wrote on X on Oct. 7, posting a clip of the UFC CEO getting heated over the Matchroom boss. The post doesn’t spell out what set White off. Two days later, though, the subject was clearly still on his mind.
The BBC reported Friday that White credited Hearn for Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua landing in the UK. The BBC’s headline also slapped one word on White in quotation marks: “Bored.” Based on the reporting, White grew tired of the back-and-forth and Hearn was the one who closed the deal on home soil. The details of how involved White was in the talks, or exactly when he stepped back, aren’t laid out in the material available here.
That matters because White is a real player in boxing now. Beyond running the UFC, which he’s led since 2001 and has been CEO of since 2023 under TKO Group Holdings, he co-founded Zuffa Boxing in 2025 and works as its promoter. So when a guy with his own boxing company and a reported net worth north of $600 million (per Forbes) more or less hands Eddie the keys on the most famous all-British heavyweight matchup of this era, people notice. Hearn has spent years as the face of Matchroom. Getting a public nod from White on something this big is a rare moment of credit flowing in that direction.

The boredom angle is the most Dana White thing imaginable. This is the man who built a business on moving fast and making fights happen, and boxing negotiations are famously the opposite of fast. Picture him on hold with a dozen lawyers and managers and checking his watch every 90 seconds. I believe it completely.
What White is focused on instead
White’s attention appears to be back on his own house. In a clip posted Oct. 7 by Championship Rounds (@ChampRDS), White said the UFC is already building toward its next big site event. “Literally, it’s being worked on right now,” he said. No location or date was given.

That same night, per Championship Rounds, White’s personal runner Sal Everett knocked out his opponent on Dana White’s Contender Series and earned a UFC contract. “Everybody at the UFC loves you, you’re a great kid. This could not happen to a better person... It’s kind of weird since you’re already at the UFC, but welcome to the UFC,” White told him.
So Hearn gets Fury and Joshua in the UK, and White gets a bigger site event and a new signee who already knows where the coffee is. The next thing to watch is that UFC announcement White says is in the works, and whether Zuffa Boxing makes a heavyweight play of its own after letting this one go.
