Amateur Dwjuan White Slams His Way Out of a Choke and Leaves His Opponent Limp

Trapped with Tyler Sample on his back late in Round 2 at Combat Night Kissimmee, White went airborne twice, and the second one ended a run of four losses in his last five fights.

Amateur Dwjuan White Slams His Way Out of a Choke and Leaves His Opponent Limp

Amateur fighter Dwjuan White produced one of the scariest finishes you’ll see this year, slamming Tyler Sample unconscious at a Combat Night Kissimmee event in Florida. MMA Fighting picked up the clip on Oct. 18, and the footage, courtesy of Spectation Sports (@SpectationNet on X), spread across fight social media almost immediately.

The ending came out of what looked like a losing position. With the second round winding down, Sample had taken White’s back and was hunting for a choke. White tried to launch himself backward and slam his way free. That first attempt didn’t work. As usually happens when a fighter dives backward with a guy wrapped around his neck, it may have helped Sample tighten the choke.

White tried it again anyway. The second flying slam landed with his full body weight on top of Sample, and White’s head came down directly onto Sample’s face. Sample went completely limp on the mat. In the video his eyes are open and staring at nothing, which is the kind of image that makes you set your phone down for a second before you hit replay.

MMA Fighting described it as possibly the most chilling knockout of the year, with Halloween a couple of weeks away. Nobody watching the clip is going to argue with that framing.

Where White Stands

The win came at a good time for White. According to MMA Fighting, he had lost four of his previous five fights going into the bout with Sample, so this one carried real weight for a fighter trying to keep an amateur run afloat. The reporting doesn’t include his full amateur record, Sample’s record, or any update on Sample’s condition after the finish. No next fight for White has been reported either.

Sal’s Take

I’ve watched a lot of guys try to slam their way out of a back take, and the honest scouting report on that move is that it mostly ends with the guy on the bottom tapping a few seconds sooner. White’s first attempt went exactly the way the textbook says it should, which means badly. What makes this clip fun is that he lost the percentages once, ignored them, and won on the second roll. There’s no betting line on a Combat Night Kissimmee amateur bout, which is probably for the best, because anybody holding a Sample ticket with that choke sinking in would’ve been counting money a little early. Somebody should check on Tyler Sample. Then somebody should book Dwjuan White again, because a guy who just snapped a 1-4 skid this way is going to draw eyeballs his next time out.
