Amanda Serrano Reveals Her Role Model as Sister Cindy Enters the Hall of Fame

One night after Cindy 'Checkmate' Serrano's IWBHOF induction, Amanda thanked pioneer Sue Fox of WBAN and said she hopes to follow her sister in.

Cindy Serrano is officially a Hall of Famer. She was inducted into the International Women’s Boxing Hall of Fame on Saturday night, and her sister Amanda was on X by Sunday morning making sure everyone knew who she looks up to.

“Congratulations to my Role Model My Sister,” Amanda wrote from the @Serranosisters account, adding thanks to “everyone that made it possible.” She singled out one name above the rest: the “legend & Women’s Boxing Pioneer Sue Fox” of the Women’s Boxing Archive Network (WBAN), tagging the organization directly.

Crediting Fox matters. Amanda’s post framed the induction as part of a longer line, with Fox and WBAN doing the groundwork that made a story like the Serranos’ possible. The sisters hold a piece of history you can’t repeat: Amanda described Cindy as having joined her to become “the 1st sisters to become a World Champion.”

Back-to-back honors for Cindy

This is Cindy’s second Hall of Fame nod in two years. Amanda noted that her sister went into the New York State Hall of Fame last year, so the IWBHOF induction stacks on top of that one. Amanda didn’t hide that she wants in on the club eventually. “I hope to one day Join her in these amazing inductions,” she wrote.

The people around her seem to think that day is coming. The timing put Cindy’s night right on the heels of Amanda’s birthday on Oct. 9, and the tributes that poured in read like a Hall of Fame plaque draft. The WBO, through @OlivieriLaw, called her a six-division WBO world champion and “unquestionably a future first-ballot Hall of Famer,” and also pointed to the Amanda Serrano Championships Tournament, her initiative for developing young fighters. Most Valuable Promotions credited her with seven divisions and signed off with “THE MOST OF ALL TIME.”

YouTuber 2Tone put numbers on it: a seven-division world champ, Puerto Rico’s first four-belt undisputed champion, 50 wins and 32 knockouts. He also added the most accurate scouting report of the bunch. “You ain’t gotta beg her to throw hands!” he wrote.

The MVP connection

Jake Paul posted his own birthday message, recalling that his first pro fight landed on the same card as Amanda’s and that it’s where they first met. “We made some history. Not done yet,” Paul wrote. Amanda replied by thanking him and MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian, calling them life changers and saying her loyalty to them would always be there. Nobody in those posts announced a next fight, so for now, Paul’s hint that they aren’t finished is the only thing on the table.

My take: I love that the order went this way. Amanda is the name that sells the posters, the one with the belts in seven weight classes and the one every promoter is already calling a lock for the Hall. And she spent her Sunday morning calling Cindy the role model and thanking a pioneer most casual fans couldn’t pick out of a lineup. Cindy got there first, twice. When Amanda’s induction comes, and on those numbers it’s coming, the speech is going to start with her sister.
