Amanda Serrano Is Drilling Uppercuts Like Her Last Walk Depends on It

Serrano will close her career against Edina Falzon in Puerto Rico, with MVP and DAZN putting on the homecoming farewell.

Amanda Serrano has picked her final opponent. The Puerto Rican star will face Edina Falzon in the last fight of her professional career, a bout boxingnews.com reported as confirmed Wednesday and talkSPORT framed as a historic homecoming farewell. MVP is promoting the event under the banner The Last Walk, and DAZN is partnering on it, according to MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian. The fight lands in Puerto Rico. A date wasn’t included in the announcement posts.

The tributes came fast. Jake Paul posted a long statement on X calling Serrano the foundation of MVP’s boxing vision, and he credited her with helping the company set records and stage some of the biggest events in combat sports. He wrote that the two sides have “proven that women’s boxing belongs on the world’s biggest stages,” and closed with this: “The Last Walk is a celebration of an athlete who changed the sport forever.” Serrano quote-posted it with a short reply calling Paul a real life MVP.

Bidarian went bigger. He wrote that being part of Serrano’s career was the greatest achievement of his own, then added, “She is my GOAT, my MOAT, my #1 female boxer of all time.” Serrano answered him directly, telling Bidarian he changed her life.

About an hour later, Paul posted his three best female boxers of the last five years. Serrano topped it, tagged as having one last fight left. Katie Taylor sat second, listed as retired, and Chantelle Cameron third, with plenty of fights still ahead of her. Paul noted he’s promoted all three.

Back in the gym

Serrano hasn’t been treating this like a lap of honor. A day before the official announcement, she posted training footage focused on her uppercuts, writing, “Making sure no punch or combination is left untrained.” Then the line that tells you exactly how she’s approaching it: “It’s my Last Fight so I have to make sure what you see you remember!”

That’s the mindset you want from someone walking away. Plenty of farewell fights turn into ceremonies with gloves on, the legend coasting through 10 rounds while everyone waits for the post-fight speech. Serrano posting uppercut work with a winking emoji says she wants the night remembered for something she does with her hands in the ring.

The public record is still thin on details. No date, no venue name beyond Puerto Rico, and nothing yet from Falzon’s side in the posts that broke this. Expect the fight week build to fill that in.

My take: this is the right ending. Serrano helped MVP build the thing Paul keeps bragging about, and she gets to close it out at home, in front of the people who’ve worn her name on their shirts. Falzon’s job is to spoil the party. Serrano’s job, by her own account, is to throw every combination she’s drilled and make the last image a punch landing.
