Alexander Hernandez misses the days when a stranger in an airport just wanted to say nice fight.
“The saddest thing in the world is you get done with a fight, you’re in the airport, and no one just comes up to you to say they’re a fan or ‘great work.’ They say, ‘You hit my parlay,’ or, ‘Man, we cashed out,’” Hernandez said Tuesday on Ariel Helwani’s show, in a clip Helwani posted to X.
He kept going. Hernandez called it “the saddest demise of just sports enthusiasts and the interaction of fan and athlete,” and said the whole thing is “getting sadder and sadder.”

Then he turned to his own booking, and the language got saltier.
“I don’t care if I’m at the btch ass Meta Apex. Put me in a fcking data center. Put me on a poster. I paid my dues, and now I want what’s due. Pay me,” he said in a second clip Helwani shared. He followed it with “F*ck this early prelim shit. Put me on the main card, and better yet, put me as the main event.”
Hernandez said he feels he’s performing well and wants a platform that matches it. Translation: the venue doesn’t bother him nearly as much as the slot does.

Some context on who’s asking. Hernandez is 19-9, fights out of Factory X and sits at No. 30 in Knockout Daily’s lightweight rankings. His last fight was Oct. 3, 2026, ten days before he went on Helwani’s program.
He also has one of the better debut stories at 155. Hernandez stepped in on short notice for Bobby Green against Beneil Dariush at UFC 222 in March 2018 and knocked him out inside the first minute, collecting a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus. I’ll always have a soft spot for that.
The years since have swung both ways. He beat Olivier Aubin-Mercier and Francisco Trinaldo, though 11 of 13 media outlets scored the Trinaldo fight for the Brazilian. He lost a Fight of the Night war to Donald Cerrone, got stopped by Drew Dober, then knocked out Chris Gruetzemacher and Mike Breeden in the first round. Losses to Thiago Moisés, Renato Moicano and Billy Quarantillo came in between.

None of the sources list a next booking. So the request is out there, on camera, with a finance degree from UTSA behind the phrase “Pay me.” Matchmakers have heard louder pitches from guys with worse records, and Hernandez at least answered the question straight.
