Alex Pereira Films His New Lamborghini and His Neighbor Ruins the Take

A neighbor called Poatan an "assh*le" mid-video while he was filming his Aventador SVJ, and Pereira posted the clip himself.

Alex Pereira wanted to show the internet his new Lamborghini Aventador SVJ. His neighbor had other plans.

While Pereira was recording a video of the car, a neighbor yelled at him and called him an asshole, according to clips shared Tuesday by Championship Rounds and Spinnin Backfist on X. The audio, as Spinnin Backfist transcribed it, was blunt: “You’re an asshole!”

The best part is the source. The footage came from Pereira himself, via his own account, and he wasn’t hiding from it. His caption, as relayed by Championship Rounds, read “When you have a jealous neighbor!”

Nobody has identified the neighbor or explained what set them off. Noise, parking, a 700-horsepower car idling in the driveway, a personal history we don’t know about. All guesses, and I’m not going to pretend otherwise. What we have is a few seconds of video and a fighter who found it funny enough to post.

Where Poatan is right now

The timing is a little rough on the image front. Pereira spent most of his UFC run as the quiet assassin, the guy who answered questions in five words or said Chama and walked off. That aura took a hit after he lost to Ciryl Gane at UFC White House.

Since then he’s pushed the argument that Gane landed illegal strikes to the back of his head, and he’s gotten into it with Daniel Cormier. MMA Fighting’s mailbag this week took a reader question about whether his complaining tour was souring fans on him. The writer said he’s disliked how Pereira has handled the Gane loss, while also saying none of it touches his Hall of Fame legacy.

Old business keeps finding him too. Magomed Ankalaev, who lost to Pereira, told Bostanov MMA that the win was a lucky punch and that he believes Pereira’s camp knew about an injury and rushed him because of it. “His business with me isn’t settled at all,” Ankalaev said.

What’s next

Pereira has a heavyweight fight booked with Sergei Pavlovich, and he’s already talking about a title shot after he wins. He’s chasing a third UFC title, which would be a ridiculous résumé line for a guy who arrived as a kickboxer. He’s also been posting training footage this week, plus a clip of himself shadowboxing with his sons, which is a much better look than arguing with a guy across the property line.

Pavlovich is the right fight. He’s a heavyweight who hits like a falling vending machine, and if Pereira wants to be champion at 265, that’s the kind of man he has to put down.

My take: this is the most relatable Alex Pereira has been in months. Every rich guy with a loud new car eventually meets the neighbor who’s had enough, and Pereira posting it with a joke instead of a grievance is a step back toward the version of him fans liked. Now go knock out Pavlovich and buy the neighbor a fruit basket.
